Last month, we hosted an inbound marketing seminar along with our HubSpot partners for clients and friends of Popskull. For those who attended, thank you! We enjoyed having the opportunity to chat face to face and have a great group of people in the same room. During the presentation, our HubSpot representatives delved into inbound marketing, the importance of supportive sales and marketing teams that work together seamlessly, and how HubSpot helps usher valuable actions for businesses. Here are some of our main takeaways.
Find the right audience and educate them
Your sales strategy and messaging might be stellar. Creative, persuasive, informative. However, if you’re trying to sell to the wrong person, you’ll fail every single time. That’s where buyer personas come in. But, it takes more than just finding the right people. In order to build trust with potential customers and ultimately close a sale, you have to nurture them by providing relevant information that addresses their pain points and how your product or service’s features and benefits can solve them.
Perception vs. reality
People who work in sales have a bad rap. They are believed to be aggressive, greedy and self-serving. We don’t want to be sold to, and it’s easy to dismiss salespeople who check those money-grabbing boxes. In reality, salespeople are helping customers solve a problem and find them the right fit.
Speak the same language
It sounds like a no brainer, but your sales and marketing teams should be aligned; they both share one goal. What’s the best way to get everyone on the same page? First, start speaking the same language. Does MQL (Marketing Qualified Lead) or SQL (Sales Qualified Lead) mean anything to you? Teams should break down any language barriers, refer to qualified leads the same way and make sure everyone understands where customers are in the buying lifecycle.
Content, content, content!
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. Content is king. It is the lifeblood of your sales pipeline. Remember, just because your content doesn’t get record-breaking engagement the moment you hit publish, that content is still searchable and online forever. The right people will find it, if not now, in the future.
